Malaysian leaders such as Foreign Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah and senior officers from the ministries join Minister Datuk Darell Leiking.
Further cementing the initiatives for collaboration and to strengthen the economic relationship between Malaysia and the Philippines, on March 09, 2019, just hours before his flight back to Malaysia, the International Trade and Industry (MITI) Minister of Trade Datu Darell Leiking discusses collaboration plans in a private meeting held in Makati Shang ri-la with PRIME PHILIPPINES’ 28 year old CEO and businessman, Jet Yu.
During this collaborative meeting, they were also joined by Dato Wan Latiff Wan Musa, the CEO of Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation and the Trade Commissioner, Siti Azlina.
This meeting succeeds the three-day visit of Malaysian Prime Minister with President Rodrigo Duterte and the Malaysia-Philippines Business Forum. The Malaysian group requested the one-on-one meeting with the businessman, Jet Yu, whose companies have interest in real estate development and advisory, technology, and importation business.
Subsequent to the table discussion of the Malaysian trade minister and the Filipino-Chinese CEO, the foreign business group is already looking for opportunities in Mindanao, where the CEO just made his two-day visit in his Davao City regional hub after the business forum. The city boasts of its accessibility to the East ASEAN Growth Area which includes Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Timor Leste.
Malaysia posted highest growth rate among the country’s top sources of foreign investments in 2018.
The country plans to revive “BIMP-EAGA” and expand its trade and investment ties with Malaysia by taking opportunities in industries such as manufacturing, technology, halal, and infrastructure after the roundtable meetings with the two groups.
Jettson “Jet” Yu, is the Filipino-Chinese businessman who is the young founder and CEO of tech-powered commercial real estate advisory group, PRIME Philippines, who revealed plans to open its first international hub in Shanghai, China. Furthermore, he is an active angel investor wherein he made appearances as an investor judge in the Philippine business reality TV show shown in CNN wherein he initiated to invest Php 20M to 3 start-up companies.
His latest innovation is GreatWork, a shared office and coworking space business which he founded. Starting its operations in April 2018, it is one of the fastest growing spaces of its kind in Quezon City, covering more than 1,000sqm with 2 locations.
